English Saddle Trim

Learn how to trim your Poodle in English Saddle; step-by-step!

The English Saddle Trim, although not as popular today as it once was, is one of the trims Poodles can be shown in around the world. It's unique 'Pack', which the trim is sometimes also referred to as, is the hallmark of the trim. The pack may or may not include a kidney patch, and may or may not be shown with the coat curled. Of course, the trim also features the bracelets and additionally a pom on the rear legs between the pack and bracelet.

As with every trim, it's important to know the lines of the trim and perhaps most importantly, the balance of the trim. You must also understand the trim and your dog's conformation to decide how the trim should fit to your specific dog.

Allison Alexander

Allison has spent more than 30 years perfecting the art of presenting one of the dog world's most difficult breeds to master: The Poodle. Allison has groomed and handled many top-winning Poodles, to 'Top Dog All Breeds' status and high honours at prestigious events around the world. Today, Allison is internationally recognized as one of the world's most talented and experienced Poodle handlers and groomers as well as an award-winning educator in this subject. Allison has presented seminars on Poodle grooming and handling all over the world, and created Global Poodle Summit to provide a world-class educational conference for its first ever event in Belgium in 2023.
Allison has handled and groomed all breeds of dogs at some of the most prestigious competitions, worldwide. Allison has also had much success as a mentor to thousands of dog groomers and handlers. In 2017, Allison founded the world’s first complete online school for dog handling, grooming and training - ‘Leading Edge Dog Show Academy’ which has thousands of successful students from around the world.
